In Science, as part of our Animals Including Humans unit, we created art work representing how water and nutrients are transported within our bodies.
Firstly, we discussed nutrients that the body needs and we then moved on to recapping the parts and function of the digestive system. Using skittles and water, we demonstrated how nutrients can be carried by water. Using gelatine, food colouring and pipettes, we watched as the food colouring diffused through the gelatine like nutrients in our body do in our bodies. We also used jelly worms to look at osmosis and how water can be absorbed through membranes. In addition to this, we role-played being blood cells in the circulation system.
