Father Paul is always pleased to welcome new people into the parish community and is more than happy to meet with families for a chat to discuss matters of the Christian faith, and to explain how much support is available in the parish of St Augustine’s and within the John Ingram partnership of Catholic parishes.  Please telephone or e-mail to book an appointment to meet with Father Paul.

Sunday Mass:   9.15 am

Weekday Mass: Tuesdays at 10.00 am

Please note that we do not require the booking of pew seats.  People are free to simply come along for Mass, as they wish.  It would be helpful if you can write you name and contact phone number on a small piece of paper for contact and tracing purposes and hand this to the stewards as you enter the church.  After hand sanitizing, the stewards will direct you to your place in church.

Please note that children must remain at all times in the pew with their parents, and currently there is no Children’s Liturgy.

An alternative choice is to attend Mass at St Anne’s, Waverley Road, Harlow Green, on a Saturday evening at 5.30 pm, which Father Paul also presides at.

There is also a Wednesday morning Mass at 10.00 am.

From Sunday 5th September another alternative choice would be 11.15 am Sunday Mass at St Oswald’s Wrekenton, where Father Paul will preside at.

Sacrament of Reconciliation: Saturday mornings at 10.30 a.m.

Baptism enquiries: Deacon Patrick Jackson (07800 814589)

Baptism preparation takes place every three months, in March, June, September and December.  This programme is arranged over three consecutive Tuesday evenings from 7.00 p.m. at the church.  These sessions take place before a date is arranged for the baptism.  The Catholic parent(s) should also be attending Sunday Mass regularly, showing that they want to be part of the community of the Catholic Church in their local area.

Parents will be glad to hear that it will also be possible now to arrange for a Baptism to take place. However, the number present at the ceremony will continue to be restricted to a maximum of 6 persons.  Please contact Deacon Paddy Jackson to discuss a possible date for your child’s Baptism.

Fr Ciaran McDonnell

16th November 1947 – 20th May 2012

My soul, praise the Lord! Every part of me, praise his holy name! My soul, praise the Lord and never forget how kind he is!   Psalm 103:1-2

Fr Ciaran was a very important member of our school family.  Our prayer garden at the front of the school is inspired by Fr Ciaran and his message – ‘Begin to love God today’. We have dedicated our meeting room in school to Fr Ciaran and we have photos of him on the wall.

At the end of each year we have the ‘Fr Ciaran Awards’ with three trophies, inspired by him, given out.

These are for:

  • Sportsmanship
  •  Creativity and Expression
  •  Shining Light of Jesus
