Flotsam - Mar 10, 2021
This week we started a new literacy unit looking at the picture book Flotsam. In our first lesson we used our inference skills, looking closely at the images, to retell the story using our imagination and observations. Building on these skills, today we explored five trays of flotsam items. Working in groups, we were challenged to investigate who each tray belonged to describing, why and how we had come to that decision. Feedbacking to the class, we narrowed down the owners of the objects through discussion and deliberation. Once each tray had been given an owner we selected a tray to write about, describing who it belonged to and how we had used our inference skills to support us.
