Today in Maths, Year 3/4 carried out an investigation to solve two-step problems. The investigation was called ‘Roll These Dice’ and the children had to answer these questions: What are all the different possibilities that
could come up? What are the final answers by doing the addition and subtraction each time? Is there a good way of making sure you find all the possibilities? What is the biggest number you can get? …and the smallest? How will you record what you’ve found out? They all worked very well independently, had a lot of mathematical discussion and worked systematically.
