Following the appeal hearing you will receive a decision within 5 school days of the hearing, wherever possible.

In-Year Applications

An application can be made for a place for a child at any time outside the admission round and the child will be admitted where there are available places.  An application should be made to the school by completing the Gateshead Council In-year Transfer Application form and returning it to:

Education Support Service,

The School Admissions Team,

Civic Centre, Floor 2,

Gateshead,

Where there are places available but more applications than places, the published oversubscription criteria, as set out in the admission arrangements will be applied.  Parents are advised to read the admission arrangements carefully before making their application.

If there are no places available, the child will be added to the waiting list.  Please see the admission arrangements for more details.

You will be advised of the outcome of your application in writing as soon as possible.  Applicants must be informed of the outcome of their application within 15 school days of receipt, but the aim is to notify applicants of the outcome of their application within 10 school days of receipt.

You have the right to appeal to an independent appeal panel if your application is unsuccessful.

If you have any questions in relation to in-year admissions please contact Mrs Scullion in the school office.

You may also wish to discuss in-year applications with the local authority – Gateshead Council.

Nursery Admission Procedures

Please click on the link below to download or print a copy of the Nursery Application Form:

Children become eligible for a place in our Nursery at the start of the term AFTER their third birthday.

At St Augustine’s, the 15 hour free entitlement for Nursery is spread over two and half days, either at the start of the week or at the end of the week. We offer either full days on a Monday and Tuesday plus a Wednesday morning or full days on a Thursday and Friday plus a Wednesday afternoon.

Nursery session times:

Full days: 8.50 a.m. – 3.20 p.m.

Wednesday mornings: 8.50 a.m. – 11.50 a.m.

Wednesday afternoons: 12.20 p.m. – 3.20 p.m.

Applications for our Nursery are placed on a waiting list and places are offered in date of birth order.  You will be contacted a couple of months before your child is due to start to confirm if we have a place available. You would then receive full details about starting Nursery and be invited in for a visit with your child.

Please note that, by obtaining a place in our Nursery, your child is not guaranteed a place in Reception.

We have a separate Admissions Policy for entry into primary school which is published on the school website (see link above).  The application process for admission into Reception is administered by the local authority – parents are invited to apply online, via the Gateshead Council website from the September before your child is due to start school.  See Gateshead Council School Admissions for full details.
